Does your search engine auto-suggest search terms? Mine does (it’s Google, btw). When I type in “cubicle,” the first and presumably most popular suggestion is “cubicle accessories.” Admittedly the #1 page is a cute tongue-in-cheek toy, but the rest of the links really are about accessorizing your cubicle.
On a whim, I tried another auto-suggest search: When I type in “prison” the first suggestion is “prison break.”
Hmmm…
Honest, hard working people will opt to make their jail cell pretty, even though they don’t really deserve to be trapped there. On the other hand, the dishonest and downright evil have the common sense to try and break out of theirs.
Ok, ok, so the term “Prison Break” refers to a TV show. Fine. But you have to admit that given the option, most jailed offenders would choose to break out if they could. They wouldn’t go searching for accessories to make their sentence slightly more tolerable.
So why do we?
